Most Tuesdays\, we will have informal group games for all abilities on skis in the field behind the building from about 11:00 or 11:30am until we break for lunch. In previous years\, we had special days where we did music jams and horsedrawn sleigh rides. SUMMARY:Backyard Sugaring
DESCRIPTION:Announcing a backyard maple syrup making workshop hosted at the Paul Smith’s College VIC and offered by Mike Rechlin\, aka West Virginia’s Maple Mike. This is a beginner maple tapping and syrup making workshop. If you have 10 maple trees you can make all the syrup your family can slather on pancakes for the year. If you have 20 trees\, your next year’s Christmas shopping is done. Who wouldn’t like to get a nice bottle of your homemade maple syrup? Making maple syrup is fun\, it’s educational and it’s delicious.\n\nThis day long workshop will include indoor and indoor activities. Dress for the season. We will learn what trees to tap\, how to tap them\, ways to collect sap in buckets or milk jugs\, how to boil the sap on an outdoor fire or your barbeque grill\, and how to safely package your product for storage. Along the way we will ponder what the tree thinks of all this. We’ll explore various aspects of maple biology\, physiology and ecology that make tapping a maple a good idea but make tapping an oak or pine a not so good idea. You will leave the workshop with all you need to go home and start your own sugarbush. And there will be plenty of the maple sugaring season left this winter.

SUMMARY:Music over the Marsh - Marjorie Kelting
DESCRIPTION:Marjorie Kelting is a talented singer/songwriter based in Northern New York. Her musical journey began in the early 2000s when she immersed herself in playing and writing bluegrass music. In 2005\, she made her mark with the release of her album “Adirondack Rail\,” featuring captivating original songs like the title track “Adirondack Rail\,” “Back Home Where You Belong\,” “Darling This Is Goodbye\,” “1923\,” “Lead Me Lord\,” and “The Water’s Edge.” \nDuring her time in Long Island\, Marjorie co-founded the bluegrass band\, Miller’s Crossing\, in 2004. The band remained active until 2016\, leaving a legacy of vibrant performances. Later\, in 2018\, Marjorie made the move from Long Island to Malone\, N.Y.\, where she currently imparts knowledge as a teacher in the local school district. \nContinuing to fuel her passion for music\, Marjorie embraced a solo career in 2023\, gracing various venues across Northern New York with her original bluegrass and contemporary folk/Americana compositions. Her upcoming plans include the release of a new EP or LP\, promising an exciting continuation of her musical journey.

DESCRIPTION:Every Saturday during the winter season\, we offer free group cross country ski lessons for beginners who purchase a trail pass and rental. These lessons are aimed at total beginners and will equip you with the skills needed to confidently ski our trails.
