Old Growth Forest Tours – 1675 Elder’s Grove – Big Tree Fest

Big Tree Fest is a fun filled celebration of our Big Old Trees here in the Adirondacks. We are offering guided tours of the 1675 Elder’s Grove, home to some of the largest trees in NYS! Hidden, scattered vestiges of old-growth groves offer a living glimpse into pre-European America, untouched by the ax or plow. They survived the industrial revolution, the saw mill and all its men. Old Growth makes up less than 1% of their original area in the northeast, with only some forest types represented. Meeting place is at the VIC. Vans are available for the brief drive to tour sites. Tours are offered both Saturday May 20st, and again on Sunday May 21st. Click on the purchase ticket link and carefully select the date for the tour you want.
