Horse logging – Paul Smith’s College Draft Horse Program

Watch a demonstration of Horse logging, which involves harnessing a draft horse that then drags or “skids” logs along the ground to remove them from the forest. Horses can maneuver through the trees much more nimbly than cumbersome machinery, and also can skid logs up or down steep slopes with greater ease.
