$15.00

The Susquehanna String Band featuring Rick Bunting, Dan Duggan, and John Kirk is a unique band among today’s musical groups. These accomplished solo artists combine their individual talent to perform traditional music from America and the British Isles.

Rick Bunting, past chair of Music Education at Crane School of Music, has long been recognized for his wonderful vocal renditions of Scottish airs and ballots. Complimenting this great vocal tradition, Rick excels instrumentally on Banjo, Lap Dulcimer, Concertina and Flute. His curriculum work featuring traditional instrumentation in general music classes has delighted students throughout the North East.

John Kirk is rapidly being acknowledged as one of the finest fiddlers in the traditional music circuit. With his trademark golden voice and instrumental virtuosity, John’s talents have long been recognized throughout the country. John has been featured on countless recordings and has released several recordings of his own music.

Dan Duggan, recipient of the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship, is rapidly being acknowledged as one of the finest dulcimer players and composers in the country. Dan has recorded 6 CD’s of original compositions as well as 3 CD’s of Christmas Music and a CD of original family songs titled “The Pieces of Our Life”. Dan’s Dulcimer work can also be heard on Paul Simon’s CD, You’re the One, released in 2001 and The Paul Simon Collection released in 2005.

For over 35 years the trio has created an exciting blend of original and traditional instrumental and vocal pieces. The Susquehanna String Band has released four recordings, Auld Lang Syne, North Country, The Cloths of Heaven and a children’s album titled Singing All The Way Home. In addition to their concert and recorded work the Susquehanna String Band has two suites “A Celtic Suite” and “The Americana Suite” they have performed with symphonies throughout the country. These arrangements are an exciting step forward in combining traditional instrumentation with symphonic accompaniment.
